What're your favorite job classes from FFV? I could go off on a rant about each of them, but I think I'll reserve that until there are a few replies. ;)

I liked the Black Mages too, but I only used Black magic as a secondary ability, and not the class itself, by the end of the game.

Although I didn't use either class too much later on, I still love Hunters and Monks for their special attack skills that make raising other jobs so much easier. Barefist can give even mages a decent amount of attack power, without the expense of equipment, and Sshot! lets you attack 4 times in a turn. Obviously awesome.

Anyone can be a summoner. Bartz, Reina, Faris, Galluf, and Krile each have equal access to every single job, although they all have unique costumes, which was one of my favorite parts.

I usually don't use too much magic, but there were a couple of cases where a good summoner was a lifesaver in FFV.

I probably had too much fun with the niche jobs like Bard and Dancer. The Dancers actually had the potential to do tons of damage, siphon hp, siphon mp, or confuse the enemies with the Dance skill, which made them versatile and strong, if a little unpredictable. And even though I almost never used the bard's skills that boosted the party's stats, I always thought a bard or two (or more) were invaluable in the places with lots of undead monsters, like the mountain right after Lonewolf's village (argh... I'm blanking the name) or the pyramid.

Not really. The Dance and Sing skills are available to their respective classes from the beginning. The dance command can use any of the individual attacks (sword dance, jitterbug, etc) right away, it's just random which one you get. All but one of them are actually pretty good, so it's never a bad bet. And you get the Requiem song in Lonewolf's village, which is right before the first point where you really need it.

And Dancers are actually pretty well balanced, statwise. They're not powerhouses, by anymeans, but they can still hold their own with a decent knife, and if you happen to get the Sword Dance, you can dish out enough damage to make any fighting type class weep with envy.

And sure, Bards may be physically weak, but keep them in the back row (singing is unaffected by rows) and it hardly matters. You can also give them whatever magic skills or something else that works for most classes (like Earth!, Critt!, whatever) and they become versatile enough. Plus, a party with several bards made the Pyramid a snap, which was otherwise really hard with a party of non-bards fighting against the hoardes of mummies and undead things. They could take out four mummy things in a single turn, whereas a normal party would take much longer.

Everyone tends to go with the Basic and Mime.. as they get all the inherent things from the other mastered jobs..

I can't think how long it took me to master every single job.. I played hours at the crystal place to fight Rovers to do so.

That pretty much makes you godly.. but still Omega can kick your butt
